The Aermacchi MB.339PAN is the version of the renowned Italian trainer developed for the Italian Air Force Aerobatic Team. Entering service with the 313th Aerobatic Training Group in 1982 as a replacement for the Fiat G.91PAN, it retains the main characteristics of the MB.339A while incorporating the specific configuration required for aerobatic operations, including the smoke-generation system. More agile and manoeuvrable than its predecessor, the MB.339PAN has enabled the Italian formation to develop an exceptionally tight and spectacular display programme, becoming one of the most recognisable Italian aircraft in the world for over forty years.
