The Aermacchi MB.339A is an advanced trainer and light attack aircraft developed in Italy during the 1970s as an evolution of the MB.326. It first flew in 1976 and subsequently entered service with the Italian Air Force, becoming one of the principal aircraft used for pilot training for decades. The MB.339A was also exported to several countries and saw operational service with Argentine Naval Aviation during the 1982 Falklands/Malvinas War, when a number of aircraft operated directly from the islands on attack and reconnaissance missions.
